Understanding Your GPA Result
Your GPA is calculated based on the grades you've received in your subjects, weighted by the credits of each subject. A higher GPA reflects better performance. Use your GPA to assess your academic progress and determine what steps you need to take to improve.
Your GPA:
How is Your GPA Calculated?
Your GPA is calculated by multiplying the grade points for each subject by the number of credits it carries. Then, the total grade points are divided by the total number of credits for that semester. For example, if you received an ‘A’ in a subject with 3 credits, that contributes 30 grade points to your GPA calculation (assuming ‘A’ equals 10 grade points).
Here’s a simplified example for better understanding:
Subject 1: 3 credits, Grade O (10 points) → 3 * 10 = 30 grade points
Subject 2: 4 credits, Grade A (8 points) → 4 * 8 = 32 grade points
Total Grade Points = 62, Total Credits = 7
GPA = 62 / 7 = 8.86
Understanding Your CGPA:
While GPA measures your performance in one semester, CGPA calculates your overall academic performance throughout all completed semesters. It’s the weighted average of all your GPAs, taking into account the credits for each semester.
The formula for CGPA is:
CGPA = (Total Grade Points in All Semesters) / (Total Credits in All Semesters)
This cumulative score gives you a complete picture of your academic performance.
